Zojirushi NP-HBC18 10-Cup is Excellent rice cooker, however, we were unhappy with the porrigde function. There is no way to change the "cooking time." The porrigde "programmed" time is too short. If we had known that the cooking time for any selection could not be change, we would not have purchased this item.

We use this Zojirushi NP-HBC18 almost every day and it is awesome. The timer setting on it makes having great oatmeal ready in the morning easy. Also this Zojirushi NP-HBC18 10-Cup Rice Cooker machine makes the best rice I have ever had, regardless of the type of rice we are cooking in it. The gaba brown rice setting itself is almost worth the price of admission by itself. If you want great rice and have a little extra money to spend on a rice maker this one is worth it in my opinion.

I have eaten rice all my life and while the Zojirushi NP-HBC18 hasn't improved the quality of the rice I eat in any noticeable way, it takes away some of the guesswork that has to be done using other rice cookers. For example, the water you put in other rice cookers makes a significant difference in the outcome. Being just a little off can make the difference between light and fluffy rice versus moist and sticky rice. This takes that factor away. As long as you're close, Zojirushi NP-HBC18 10-Cup Rice Cooker will make great rice.

Some people may not see how Zojirushi NP-HBC18 is worth it and I understand. I can make perfect rice on a stove top just as well as this makes. So why do I buy this? Same reason why people purchase more expensive cars. The features and experience are convenient. Having to make proper preparations for white, brown, sushi, etc gets tiresome and it becomes easy to mess up. This rice cooker takes all of that away.
